GENO Wellness Privacy Policy

1. Summary

This Privacy Policy explains how GENO Wellness Ltd. ("GENO", "we", "us") handles information when you use genoessence.com, the GENO Wellness customer app and related services (the "Service"). GENO is incorporated in Kenya and serves people across the East African Community, including Tanzania.

  • We collect the information needed to operate accounts, personalize wellness tools, arrange provider bookings and process payments.
  • We do not sell personal, wellness or payment information.
  • You can request access, correction, export or deletion of your data.

Separate policies apply to GENO Steps and GENO Provider.

2. Who Is Responsible for Your Data

GENO Wellness Ltd. is the data controller. Privacy questions and data rights requests can be sent to privacy@genoessence.com. Security disclosures can be sent to security@genoessence.com.

3. Information We Collect

  • Optional profile details, wellness goals and profile photo
  • Mood, habit and journal entries that you choose to record
  • Booking details, provider messages and reviews
  • Payment method and transaction information needed to process bookings
  • A stable account identifier when you choose Google sign-in. GENO does not receive your Google password

Technical Information

We may receive your device type, operating system, browser or app version, IP address, approximate region, first-party authentication token, diagnostic logs and notification token.

We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, call logs or advertising identifiers. Camera or microphone access is used only when you deliberately start a feature that needs it, such as a live session.

4. How We Use Information

We use information to operate your account, personalize wellness tools, match you with providers, process bookings and payments, deliver requested notifications, maintain security, investigate technical problems and meet legal obligations. Marketing communication requires consent and can be turned off.

5. When Information Is Shared

When you book a provider, that provider receives the information needed to deliver the service, such as your display name, appointment details and notes you choose to share. Providers do not receive your payment credentials or unrelated wellness records.

Information may also be disclosed when a valid legal order requires it, or as part of a corporate reorganization under the same privacy commitments. GENO does not share personal information for behavioural advertising.

6. Security

GENO uses encryption in transit and at rest, one-way password hashing, restricted access controls, audit practices and security review. No internet service can guarantee perfect security. Where the law requires it, GENO will notify the appropriate regulator and affected people of a qualifying personal data breach.

7. Retention and Account Deletion

Profile and wellness entries are kept while your account is active or until you delete them. Booking and transaction records may be retained for the period required by tax or financial law. Diagnostic records and backups are removed on rolling schedules.

You can begin account deletion from the Service or visit Delete Your Account. Records that must be retained by law are separated from the live service and kept only for the required period.

8. Cross-Border Processing

Some service providers may process data outside Kenya or Tanzania. GENO applies contractual, technical and organizational safeguards required by applicable East African data protection laws.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may ask to:

  • Be informed about how your data is used
  • Access or export your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete data that is no longer needed or was processed unlawfully
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent for optional communication

Tanzanian users have rights under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022. Send requests to privacy@genoessence.com.

The Service is not directed at children under 13. People under 18 in East African jurisdictions may use the Service only with appropriate parent or guardian consent where required by law.

11. Cookies and Tracking

The web service uses first-party cookies needed for sign-in, security and preferences. GENO does not use third-party advertising cookies, behavioural tracking pixels or session recording tools.

12. Policy Changes

GENO may update this Policy when services or legal requirements change. Material updates will be communicated through the Service or the email address associated with your account.
